Your opinion on studying Ancient Greek

I've only just begun investigating ancient greek; I'm a grade 11 student with a lot of interests, and just last week I decided to try learning it. Besides being a cool language in itself, Greek is the "language of philosophy" and has great historical and cultural connections, having been around for centuries!
I think studying it will be a fascinating project. :)

Your opinion on studying Ancient Greek

I think the study of Ancient Greek is a beneficial exercise only, as with everything else, if it is used for some beneficial purpose, whether public or private. Apart from that, is is, as with everything else, better left to itself.

Can anyone tell me what the difference was, if any, between gnosis and epignosis? Why two words for "knowldge"? Could epignosis refer to a higher knowledge, or a sure knowledge?

Mahalo nui loa for putting this site together. Some recent translations of early Greek poets are so lovely I've wanted to come a little closer to the originals.

Any recommendations for a Greek-on-CD type brief introduction for a 14 year-old who will be visiting Greece this spring?

Serious but not entirely thorough effort. Nobody is prefect. I think the nationality question should have also been written in Greek. Great job, well done!
