Chester Biggs Jr. is buried in front of my father in law (Korea Army) at a cemetery in Fayetteville, NC. His marker caught my eye and I photographed it. I noticed the North China Marine and found this site. His marker looks good but looks unvisited. My wife and I will be remembering him each time we visit.

I am so grateful for this website! My grandfather was Richard Huizenga. The men with whom he escaped, were said to be the dearest to him. This is a very huge deal to be here. Many thanks. 🙏🏻

I knew my uncle was held prisoner, but I never knew any of the details. He never want to talk about his experience, it had always given him nightmares. Thank you so much for all the information regarding the 203 North China Marines

Thank you for this web page. The stories of such true America Heroes should be kept alive for future generations to come to know.

My mothers cousin, Charles H. Darr was a North China Marine, taken prisoner at the US Embassy in Peking China on 7 December 1941. I am truly sorry to say that I never had the honor of meeting him.

I was referred to this site by a newly found cousin whose father was a North China Marine. The story behind the site sent chills down my spine. I recently watched a webinar on \"Past Conflict Repatriations\" which said that there are 73,004 POW/MIA from World War Two. I wonder how many of those are in Japan? Thank you for this site and thank you to the brave men honored on this site.

My father, Raymond Tompkins, was a Marine captured on Wake Island. He was held at Woosung, Kiangwan, and Hakodate #3. He died in March 2007. He rarely spoke of his experience. I am this web site exists. He is probably in the photo after liberation with Lt. Col. Devereaux but I can\'t see him. Is there any way to get a copy of this photo?

I am the great-great nephew of Dan Walmer (USN) who is listed on this site. I knew very little about his wartime experience until my family came across this website. Thank you all for helping to keep the history of these great men and women alive. If we find more information we will be sure to share it.

I am the \'godbrother\' of Glenn F. Crafts.
he was raised by my mother and father in Orange County (Balboa & Newport Beach). They only received a couple of letters from him as a POW.
He had just had an appendecomy prior to the events of Dec 7, 1941.
He remained in the Marine Corps and retired as a Master Sergeant.
I lost contact with him long ago.

I received notice that the site would be gone today at 9:51 p.m. last night. I worked late into the night with my son to try to save whatever I could about my father who died many years ago as a result of the brutal conditions of his imprisonment by the Japanese. I am so grateful that the site has had an extension. I have very little of him left except for memories and hate to lose this comprehensive story of the North China Marines. My father was Morris S. Haugo who was an embassy guard when taken prisoner.
