Great to see this site still getting posts. JT was a great guy.

FOR HIS DAUGHTER - Erin, I have many of JT\'s photos and even some film which was entrusted to me upon his death. I would be happy to forward them to you if you wish. You have met me on a couple of occasions. I spent a lot of time with him in Atlanta and we had a lot of laughs. I was VP of the PKA. I also drove him to see your grandparents in Columbus one time. Please don\'t hesitate to contact me.

I hope this post gets posted. I hope I didn't offend anyone. In 1985 I met jt in prison. Jt was a privat man and I am honored to be the only person that he shared his personal information of who he was.every day for 8 months we talked and he told me things that I'm sure not to many people know. Jt was a great person and my point on why I mention prison is because no matter where jt was or where, he touched everyone even a ex con. like me. Jt changed my life, I'll be going to law school and I owe it all to jt. Jt , those 8 months were thegreatest 8 months of my life, thank you buddy. I miss yyour Mr Magoo impression. Love and mid you3

I spoke to Paul Bretz (Livingston, Mt) on the telephone a couple of years ago and we talked about Mr. Will. Paul had been a manager for Tomas Connor in the 70s and later on ran a Jay T. Will studio in Craig, Colorado in the late 80s. Paul said, Jay was by far the best instructor he had ever had. Paul is not on the internet and I thought I better enter his comment on this site. I personally had a couple of Jay T. Will students transfer to my Tracy Kenpo Karate studio in the Denver area in the late 80s and they were very well taught students. Jay is missed by many.

Jay referred many of my fights and became a friend. I studied with his friend Dennis Nackord. The last time I saw Jay was in Ohio in the fall of 1983. He picked me up at a hotel where I was staying and drove me to a tournament. We were going up a highway at about 90 MPH. We made it but nerves were never the same. The last time I spoke with him was in 1994 or 1995. He was in Atlanta at that time. He was a great person.

Jay was a great friend, great referee and one of the funniest guys alive. In his final months I took him in for treatment on several occasions and along with our mutual good buddy,Joe Lewis, I was one of his pallbearers. Nice to see this here and to know that he is still missed.

I began studying at the Jay T. Will studio in the summer of 1980. I studied under Dan Distolhorst. My first instructor was Larry Hamilton. It changed by life forever! I love Kenpo Karate and went as far as Brown Belt 3. I am currently studying with Mark Miller at Tracys in Cleveland.
Thank you Jay T. Will for getting me started down the right path!!

I had the great honor to study under one of Master Will's students, Cliff Kelly in Warren, Ohio. I met Jay on several occasions and was always impressed by his knowledge and his ability to teach. I have studied under several teacher's since then but none better.

I started lessons at the Jay T Will studio in Springfield Ohio with Dan Distlehorst. For several years I explored different schools and styles. I later moved to Columbus and began lessons at the Fifth Ave. studio. Jay was always good to me and intersted in evryone's progress. I began teach at the studio after I was a brown belt. I recieved my blackbelt in 1982. It was a great honor and very important to me that Jay believed I was worthy of the belt.
I remember many students and instructors going to the opening night for Force Five in Columbus. Jay was fun and took it well when we cheered him getting beat up in the movie.

I have many great memories of Jay, beginning with the first day I met him. I had visited many karate schools to watch how and what they taught. I was watching a group class when I felt something brush my shoulder length hair.It was jay's foot tucking my hair behind my ear. When I turned around Jay was standing there and all the people in the waiting room were laughing. He introduced himself and I signed up for classes that day. With Herb as my instructor I learned a great system called and went on to both teach and earn my Black Belt.[:)][:)]

My Brother and I studied at Jay's studio throughout most of thge seventies under the tutelage of Bill Royer, Mike McDaniel, Paul Thibault, Herb Lamprecht, and Jay Himself. I remember Jay as a serious, yet warm and friendly Sensei, who changed my young life. He had an impish sense of humor and was funny as hell. I gained a sense of self-confidence that I did not have previously and which I carry with me to this day. He was a good man, a great teacher and will always have a special place in my heart.

My instructor Cliff Kelly and JT were good friends. We used to attend all the karate tournaments he hosted and he attend all the ones our school hosted. He sold me my first camera back in 1973, which I still have. He was our school photographer, our senior instructor and was the one who got our school to start teaching Kenpo. I had to privilege of watching him fight and win in several tournaments. I have fond memories of him. A great fighter, good mentor, a great tournament promotor and the list goes on. It's nice to see someone has set this site up. It had a major influence on our karate school.
