"Every Muscogee citizen, whether his skin is red, white or black, has equal rights and privileges in this (Creek) Nation. Even the most abject, poor and ignorant is entitled to equal consideration with the most distinguished, rich and learned at the hands of our officers." Isparhecher
I have noticed that a lot of freedmen descendants claim that they have Indian blood and it is possible, but the problem with that is the Indian blood is coming from a slave owner. If a freedmen woman was married to an Indian, she and her children (no blood quantum for them) would be placed on the freedmen roll. As usual the mother's status determines which roll (by blood or freedmen).
I think people should get their facts straight, stop fooling the public, writing books, etc. concerning their ancestor, their linage, whatever tribe (Choctaw, Chickasaw, e.g.).
