Everyone is welcome to join us for a training run on the whw.
The plan is to meet at Drover's Inn (nr Beinglas Farm) at 9.30am on Sunday 30 November 2008 - run to Inversnaid Hotel and back (about 15 miles) and then possibly an extra 6 miles (to Derrydaroch and back).
So far we have the following coming along ....
John Kynaston
Ian Beattie
Neal Gibson
George Reid
Marco Consani
Tim Downie
Russell McCoull
Phil Tipping
David Hall ((plus 2 or 3)
If you have never joined us before you are very very welcome. One of things I love about this race is these training runs. There is so much information and stories to share on the way that you can't help but learnt.
If you want to come along just leave a reply and we'll look forward to seeing you on the day.
Was hoping to tag along with you guys for this first run, but I can only do the original plan of the 29th. Bummer! :( I'll probably still go (though probably not as early as 9:30) if anyone is interested in getting it over with before a relaxing Sunday:)
Hi Jamie
Yea running both days, so you will have company. Plan slow run to Tyndrum for soup and sandwich and then back.

Re: Training Run - Sunday 30 November 2008
John,
I plan to be there on the 30th, need to get my training for next year kick started. Be patient with me though because for one reason or another I've only managed a total of around five 8 mile runs since the race this summer !
John
I will be there on the 30th,looking forward to doing some running on the Southern half of the course and getting some advice and training tips from everyone.
Cheers John
Hi George (Reid)-
Lookin' forward to the 29th. Just a forewarning, though, that I'm a girl called Jamie and not the most super-fast runner in the world; don't want to cramp your style so if you invisioned any speed work you're on your own:) But the soup and sandwich sound lovely! Drop me an e-mail when you have a chance so we can coordinate without boring the rest of the Sunday crowd!
no worries bout cramping george's style, in fact its the only time I have ever seen george's name linked with style in the same sentence, but he wears his buffs well! and he now has an ultra cool running jacket......
Jamie i'll be there on the Saturday and think i'm a girl too, was last time i looked anyway and not a fasty either, this is first of my back to back runs so happy to take it easy.
My plan for the 29th is to run as fast as possible up to Tyndrum and get a few pints in for lunch leaving you girls to jog along and talk about shoes and handbags. If you do want me to run with you will cost you a Guinness when we get back to Drovers.
I do like my new Ultra Jacket, not sure about having a red flashing light on my Butt though.

Re: Training Run - Sunday 30 November 2008
Handbags? Shoes? Jogging? Camel back, flyrocks and running you mean. Flashing red light on your butt is a warning sign for anyone running behind you George.
George, if you dont mind, i'd like to tag along on the 29th as well as Bein ghlas- tyndrum-inverarnan- Guiness ticks all the boxes for what i'd planned for that day !
I'd like to come. I think there's a WHWer from Carlisle this year, so it would be good to share vehicles/costs. Perhaps you cold contact me? Could be useful for other training runs too.
Two weeks today we'll be running! Hope the weather is as good as it is today.
Just to confirm who is coming.
So far we have ....
John Kynaston
Ian Beattie
Neal & Carolinie Gibson
George Reid

Have I missed anyone? Anyone else want to join us?
Plan is to meet at Drover's Inn to be running at 9.30am. Run to Inversnaid and back (15 miles) and then an option, for those who want to, of Derrydaroch and back (an extra 6 miles).
Really looking forward to getting back on the route!
Would it be incredibly sad to suggest name badges for our first meet? I'm bl**dy awful at remembering folks names and would find badges useful.

Re: Training Run - Sunday 30 November 2008
...and another thing, would it make more sense (for those who want to do the "up" run as well) to go on to Carmyle Cottage (where the WHW goes under the railway line) instead of Derrydarroch?
As this is going to be a suggested meeting point during the race, folk might like to know how long/how far it is to there rather than to Derrydarroch.

Re: Training Run - Sunday 30 November 2008
Hi John, hope to be able to join you all. Add Rab and Roddy to the list
Robert, Rab & Roddy - great to have you along. We are up to 28 now! Excellent.
Tim - I will bring some sticky labels for names badges!! Can't have not knowing who you are talking to.
plus - I'm happy to do the extra mile to Carmyle Cottage rather than Derrydaroch but doing the extra out and back bit means that everyone can decide when they turn round if they do the extra bit at all.
Still time for anyone else who wants to jon us? Can you make it 30!
Hi John
Gus and I would love to join you all on Sunday making your number up to 30. The only blip that would scupper our run will be the arrival of our 2nd grandchild. I will happily not run in that case.
See you all for a chin wag girls.
Jean and Gus Bowman
Just been informed of the plans for next week,JeanieB must have forgotton that we have a 15 miler in the hills on the saturday morning!!
Hey Dario luv your comments re Mr Reid..... better wear buffs on sunday to look classey yee haa!!
Look forward to sunday unless the wee one arrives then it will be trawl the internet for a 'tiny' size of Mudrocs for the new arrival!
see you all sunday morning.......... hopefully
keep smiling
Gus
We have a few more coming so should be well over 30 for our run next Sunday.
I think we should be okay for car parking at Drover's Inn. No doubt a number of us will stay for some soup and coffee after the run so I'm sure they'll be glad of the custom.
So we'll meet as planned (9am for a 9.30am start) and adjust if we have to.
It would be good to have everyone's mobile phone number just in case so if I haven't got your number could you send me a text (07905 218162). Thanks
John
PS - I had my photo taken with Paula Radcliffe yesterday at the Scottish Awards dinner. Please see my blog!!!!
I'm running on Sunday and will be travelling from the Perth area through Crieff & Crianlarich.
My car should comfortably take 3 others, so if anyone's travelling the same route they are welcome to share a lift, reducing the cost of fuel for the trip and maybe solving some parking issues given the numbers going.
Drop me an e-mail me and we will arrange something.
I'll be driving from west end of glasgow for the Saturday run if anyone else is headed from this direction and wants a lift. Goal is to be back home by 5:30; perhaps slightly ambitious but it'll just mean skipping the Guinness at the end:) Instead I'll be racing home to hug the shoes and handbags I'm sure I'll be dearly missing all day! Drop me a text if you want to coordinate a carpool: 07833 942 979.
-jamie:)
I think it might be Jamie.
Be sure to have a plan B.
Look forward to seeing you then.

Re: Training Run - Sunday 30 November 2008
I was planning on brining my shoes and handbags along with me Jamie, i'm happy to share!! Soph is from Glasgow so i'll pass on your details, i'm not sure what her after run plans were.
Hi Martin, believe i'm the one from Carlisle. Unfortunately i work the wonderful continental shift pattern, which pretty much screws up most weekends. Would be good to get together for some ideas for runs around our very own God's county.
Two new people to join you on Sunday's training run, if we may join this elite group of nutters? We are Mandy Judd and Sue Anderson. Mandy is running the Devil in 2009, Sue kind of ran the Devil in 2008 and hopefully will be running the WHW race in 2009.
Look forward to meeting you all.

We will aim to get running by 9.30am (with compulsory group photo at 9.29am!!) so if you are late let me know (07905 218162).
There is a big group of us but it would be great if we could aim to stay together on the run back to Inversnaid.
It maybe that on the way back to Beinglas and then on to Carmyle Cottage one or two (you know who are!!) may want to push on but hopefully eveyone will have some company all the way.
Really looking forward to the run.
For those running Saturday as well/instead have a great run!
John
PS for future training dates please see separate post about 2009.
