I have been having a disscussion today with some of my collegues about how long we should allow children to play outside in the sun for. Now we set up the garden as we do inside & let the children decide whether they want to play inside or outside. Now the problem we are having is that the children want to be outside all morning/afternoon & since it has been very hot these past few days we have let them play for an hour or so then brought them in to play inside. This is a fair choice for the children or are we restricting them by only giving them an hour?

any ideas/feedback would be very much appreciated

Forgot to say I work in a day nursery.

depends how hot it is, as last week on one day we only stayed out for 15-20 minutes at the most as it was just to hot for them
