Accommodation

Anyone suggest some good accommodation for the Saturday night for my 7 person team? (assuming I'll be finished in time for us to need some!)

Re: Accommodation

Hi Graeme. Accommodation planning depends a bit on what time you think you may finish. If you are working on a 27 hour schedule you will finish at c 04:00hrs. Mrs McTavish @ the Ben View Bed & Breakfast may not welcome you with open arms at that hour, so it may be a case of "in the car" accommodation in the Leisure Centre car park.

Whatever accommodation you do book, do be sure to confirm it again before the big day. One year my support crew had waved me off on the final 7 mile stretch from Lundavra. I was meandering along thinking about goblets and its-in-the-bag, whilst they headed for the B & B to book in, have a bath, then the first of a few beers before welcoming me at the finish.

So they arrived at the B & B only to be told that there was no record of their booking and the rooms had been let out to others. Instead of baths and beers they were rushing around to try and fix something else up. Stress levels were off the scale. Not happy bunnies. Being the great support crew that they were, they did find somewhere else; but they certainly could have done without that particular hassle at that stage of proceedings.

Re: Accommodation

Good advice Murdo.
I was supporting last year and had all that bother.
Called my b and b a few days before race.(this had been booked for months)... Aye that's booked son. Turned up on the night about 7:30pm after no phone answer, nobody there. Never mind. Tried later and later...no one there except guests. Tried again about 11:30pm no success. went hunting elsewhere and very luckily got into a hotel about 00:45. Hopefully just a couple of isolated incidents but something to check.

In past years it's been ok to put up a tent on the grass at the back of the leisure centre. Is that still ok Dario?

Cheers,
BOb

Re: Accommodation

George my crew of 2 stayed at the Nevis Bank Hotel last year after the race and had no issues with booking in and getting to there rooms in the early hours.

Not a lot can be said about the hotel other than it is dated but clean and represents fair value for what you pay.

Me i prefer Glen Nevis Campsite now that`s Value.

Good luck
