Any news on the Cateran Trail race?

I believe Dario was doing this 102k race today. Any word on how it has gone? Were any other WHWers doing it?

"Race was stopped after 6 hours."

So, plenty of time for you to finish then?

Been windy and cold (with the odd flake of snow) down here in sunny Ayrshire. Willing to bet it was a *lot* worse up there with you.

Tim
regretfully i do not think that the forum is the best way to discuss what happened yesterday.
Be happy to fill you in privately.
I do think one runner may have decided to carry on as a training run. In the conditions most sensible folk did the authoriries a favour and sought shelter or were picked up.
All of us at some point were in waist deep snow either by it bing fall depth or by drifting. Temp now above zero and exposed north wind in places.
But what i did do in the 6 hours odd was have fun, it was great fun while it lasted.

Is RichieC still out there with his weary limbs immersed in some ice covered lochan?

Re: Any news on the Cateran Trail race?

think ritchie might have been one of the sensible ones.
The one that decided to go on has a clue in his nick name.

Re: Any news on the Cateran Trail race?

think we all know who he is, but seriously, it was an awful night, with more snow, i do hope he was ok as he had no support. temps below freezing and not to be recommended or copied.

Re: Any news on the Cateran Trail race?

hi, myself and Colin Hutt staggered into Blairgowrie in 14 and a half hours. I think there were another 5 runners behind us. What a monster! The conditions were pretty bad underfoot, wading through waist deep snow going over the Spittal was the worst and the biting cold wind made sure you never quite warmed up. Forgetting to pick up our headtorches at the support point in Alyth was a slight mistake leading to us running round in circles in the forest trying to find the waymarkers with the light of a mobile phone!
The course is a cracker though, i'd imagine without the snow it would be good hard running and the location of the trail really gives you a feeling of being out in the wilderness. I hope this race is on again next year, i'll be there for sure!

Re: Any news on the Cateran Trail race?

Richie.
I dont get this I was stopped at Spittal and told the race was cancelled and that you guys who were through that check point would be stoped at Dalnagar castle, I had them assure me everyone was stoped and that race was over. 2 guys who came in after me ran on to get in a long training run, as did our man. but was told race was stoped, this is not fair I was running well and on schedule. Not geting at you and as Dario says this is probably not the place, well done on geting through. I can not explain how annoyed I feel right now.
