I am assisting to recruit biochemists, physiologists and nutrition scientists to join the Metabolism Research and Development team of a growing, privately held company headquartered in Foster City, California. Here is more information:

Job Description:
The Scientist will provide biological expertise in the field of human metabolism. Will work with collaboration scientists to perform in silico research and development and identify and develop intellectual property opportunities. He or she identifies and explores pathophysiological mechanisms and treatments for type 2 diabetes and obesity, designs simulation protocols and analyzes results, finds appropriate literature, evaluates and interprets data, describes relevant biochemistry and physiology, writes project proposals and reports, presents in silico results and recommends novel experimental methods and protocols to collaboration partners, and maintains good relationships with customers.

The ideal candidate would have:
A Ph.D. in Physiology, Metabolism, Diabetes, Obesity, Nutrition, Neuroscience, or Endocrinology.
2-3 years of experience in pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, government, or academic research setting.
Deep knowledge of normal, whole-body metabolism.
Deep knowledge of the pathophysiology of type 2 diabetes and obesity.
Experience in integrating multidisciplinary research with perspectives ranging from clinical medicine to molecular biology.
A clear understanding of experimental protocols, methods, and designs.
Very strong communication skills - both oral and written - including technical writing and presentation.
Proficiency with college mathematics and ability to develop basic knowledge of mathematical modeling and its applications.
Ability to work independently in diverse, cross-functional team environment.
Ability to develop and manage a multi-disciplinary research plan.
Interest in pursuing a technical career path outside a wet lab environment.
