Well this is turning out to be a tough weekend for the porch dwellers. Susan has had bad stomach pains mixed with loose stool and heartburn every 2-3 months for the last year and a half. A PA diagnosed it as reflux and prescribed Nexium. It went away for 6 months but then came back this week after she stopped taking the Nexium a month ago. They were so painful that she went to the hospital. She has gall stones. They want to remove it but she has an enlarged tube (between the gall bladder and the duodenum) and the doctor thinks she may have gall stones in the tube. If they are big, then he can't handle it himself and Susan has to go to a hospital in Harrisburg, which means at least one more surgery and who knows how long a wait. He is going to do the equivalent of an exploratory of the tube and if the stones are small then he will just take out the gall bladder and we're all done. The tiny stones would then pass on their own. The exploratory can't happen until Monday at the earliest but may not happen until later this week.
I really need your kind, healing thoughts and prayers for small stones. |
