Scheduling Concerns

"Alright. Let me say something right off. I love the comic. I like the comic because of the story and well to tell the truth it is hard as hell to get into it when it updates as sparaticly as it does now. And I know that you work an 8 hour job. Trust me. I work two of them every day of the week. Yet I still have time to draw. And then some.

And a suggestion is to make a scedual that you follow. Like an update a week. That is a very reasonable scedual. When you make a something like that things tend to get done a lot better.

Basicly I'm just saying that this could be a lot better comic if it would update more. If there is something that could be done to get this comic on a decent scedual then notify me.

But other than that... Great comic." -Virus

Glad to know that you enjoy the comic, Virus, but your concerns about the updating do bother me and they are very understandable.

Here's the deal:
Back when LLP started at the end of 2002, I had planned on using a regular Monday/Wednesday/Friday updating schedule, and, for a little while, that worked. Then I ended up moving to a Monday/Friday schedule when things began not working out the way I wanted them to and I wasn't able to churn out comics at the pace at which I had planned. Eventually things just got all screwed up and I started missing updates all the time and things of that sort.

The truth is, as much as I'd like for LLP to have top priority, it doesn't. Yes, once I'm finished with work for the day, I do have free time to work on the comic. That usually doesn't happen, though, because I generally tend to prefer spending time with my beloved or my friends, or playing computer games, or pumping my creative juices into something else, such as writing or music (I play the drums.)

For anyone who doesn't know this already, the comic is updated on Fridays (when it's updated at all.) Therefore, I would suggest to the fans checking back here every Friday afternoon. I generally get comics posted late Thursday night or early Friday morning, but sometimes my schedule forces me to push them back to late Friday morning/early Friday afternoon. You can also check on OnlineComics.net to check for an update. When I update, it will be posted on there immediately after the update.

I understand how frustrating it can be when it takes a couple weeks, or even months at times, before there is a new update. I also hate the fact that that can ruin readership, because when there aren't updates very often, the comic isn't stuck in the front of a reader's mind. I do try to get a comic done for updating every Friday, and I do sincerely apologize for every missed update that comes along.

Check back this Friday (7/15/05) for a new update, as I plan on having one.

Re: Scheduling Concerns

Wow, you're the first person to show any interest in donations! I'm extremely flattered.

At the time, no, I don't have an account set up for donations. Now that you've shown some interest, I may post in some other locations to see if anyone else is interested as well. If people would actually like to donate, that would be great, and I may change servers if they do. Donations would help out a lot, though!

I'd also be intrested in donating. Although it wouldn't be to terribly much, everything counts.

Re: Scheduling Concerns

You're exactly right! Every little bit does count!

I will be adding a donation button here in the forum shortly. I would add it to the site, but it would conflict with the layout and force me to create a new background, which I don't really feel like doing right now.

Thanks for your kindness, guys!

Re: Scheduling Concerns

i think this is a great comic, good storyline so far as well, i would donate if i had a cent to spare, but im in debt as it is. if there is any other way i can help however (short of being your personal hit-man) i would be glad to. i've always wanted to be able to actively help out with a webcomic, so if i can, let me know.

Re: Scheduling Concerns

um i started reading about 2 week ago and the arcives said the last update was 9/12/05 and so i was just wondering if you've stoped doing it or just forgot, because i realy like this comic and it's left on on an interesting cliff hanger. so i thought it would be nice to know if you decided to get back to it or not.

Re: Scheduling Concerns

You have no idea how sorry I am for the lack of updating since this past September. I know that I've let the fans down big time with this one.

To answer your question: No, I'm not done with this. Finishing up Love, Life, and Pain is something that I strongly desire to do. Leaving the story where it is simply won't suffice, and it must be finished. There is one page left in the current chapter, and there is one chapter left before the end of the series. I WILL CONTINUE WORK ON THE COMIC SOMETIME IN THE NEAR FUTURE. I cannot say exactly when, but because someone new has expressed concern, I will say this: As soon as the Spring semester at my college is over, I will make it a point to work on the comic. The semester ends in mid-May. I will have a few graduations/weddings to attend during the end of May/beginning of June, but I will guarantee an update around that time period.

It makes me very happy whenever a new fan comes along, and it pains me to leave any of the fans, new or old, disappointed by my recent lack of commitment to this effort. I hope you will continue to read once I get updates started again this summer, and I'll be sure to notify you via email, Travis, when I update again. Thank you!

Re: Scheduling Concerns

Don't worry, LLP won't die! At least, not until it's finished. I have at least a couple of new updates starting this Friday, April 14, 2006. How long I'll actually keep them consistently coming I cannot say, but I'm going to try my hardest to avoid another gap like the last one. So check back every Friday starting tomorrow, and don't forget to vote for LLP on TopWebComics!

Re: Scheduling Concerns

Don't worry, there will definitely be some significant things happening in the next chapter - Chapter 4 is the final chapter of LLP! The chapter will be a bit longer than the other chapters, but I think the story won't disappoint.

Re: Scheduling Concerns

I just found this comic today and I've got to say it's one of the best I've seen. I'd really like for you to update more often, but what you can do is what you can do.
