Re: rape
Psychological tests are sometimes misused as "lie detectors," particularly in a legal context. Tests should only serve as one piece of information, since they have much less than perfect validity. Also, since tests are based on subjective reports, any test will be more revealing of a client's subjective impression, than an objective viewpoint. My best advice is to explore these issues with the client and follow your hunches. It sounds like you're trying to decide whether your client is a "victim" or whether she sexually acts out. It is possible that both are true. --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- Replying to: Is there a test that will accurately report if someone has been sexually assaulted. I have a client that was out with a couple of young men and reported that one first performed oral sex on her and then penetrated her with his penis. She reports that she told him not to penetrate her and that her previous counselor called this rape. This is the second time that this young woman has gotten "caught" doing drugs and drinking. The other time she reported that she was on a beach and passed out when she woke up some boys were trying to un-buttom her pants. The most recent the young woman was married and the mother of a young daughter. She insists that she was raped and that people should feel sorry for her, especially her husband and parents. Is there a test that will determine if she is being truthful. Is there a test that will show if she has been sexually abused or insulted? Is there a test that shows that this woman sexually acts out? |
