Correct, here in the northern hemisphere (and you couldn't be in the southern because you would be going into winter right now), it's too late in the season to start breeding. Besides, canaries don't do well in aviary breeding, they are too territorial, there are too many squabbles, competition for food and infant mortality is way too high. Canaries are bred in breeding cages holding a pair each. Aside from that, you need to know who the parents are of each baby or you will end up with deformed ones from inbreeding.
Please don't take this the wrong way, I am not trying to offend you but it seems to me that you don't really know what you are doing and I would beg you not to attempt breeding them until you do. It's actually much more complicated than just putting males and females together and letting nature do the rest. |
