Hi I'm new here.
This is what the Montgomery County schools is now doing to our son who has Asperger. The bus people are only doing this to our son. They are not doing this to the other kids on the bus and we had a meeting on this issue and we tape it and we have this on the tape as to them doing this to our son only.
Bus Safety Plan
1. Students back packs and pockets will be searched before they board the bus.
2. Minnick staff will evaluate J’s readiness to ride the bus daily. A teacher will accompany J to the bus and advise the driver whether he is ready to ride.
3. The driver will make the final decision whether to transport him from home in the morning and from Minnick in the afternoon.
4. The driver may decide to return him to Minnick or to home if his behavior becomes dangerous before she reaches interstate highway. She will call Minnick or home to let them know that she is returning with J.
5. If he is returned to Minnick, Minnick staff will call MCPS Transportation. Ms. M will dispatch alternative transportation home with a driver and an assistant. Minnick staff will wait with J until transportation arrives. Minnick staff will also notify parents that alternative transportation is being provided and that J will be late getting home.
6. If his behavior becomes dangerous after the bus Is on Interstate, the driver will stop the bus and call 711 for police assistance.
7. Police will work with parents to arrange his return to them.

Are we looking at a Civil Rights issue here? If they are not searching all children, they are infringing on his civil rights. Do know of any laws that have been passed that state you can target a disability group. This is much like racial profiling. Right? The first day that they put this plan in place they call the police because our son got upset and made a facial look at them and he stood up. I think that he was looking for a way to get off the bus over the way he was being treated by his aide. I was at they school for a meeting and was at the school when he got there. The aide jump down my throat in front of the school staff and the police officer saying that she felt threaten by our son facial look . This aide is not train and in our son’s IEP he is to have train staff and train aide’s in the class rooms and on the bus. What do you thank about all of this? I’m sorry for this being so long. All this has happen since the Virginia Tech Shooting here in Blacksburg Virginia. I feel that our son is being target here. His Dr. told us that we are losing our rights over the Shooting’s that are happing in our schools. We need to stop this some way.
