Ache Email-out & News!
Hello everyone! Hope you're all doing well. Summer seems to have arrived recently here in Vancouver. Let's go to the beach!
////////////////////////////////////////
COMING VERY SOON
//////////////////////////////////////
RAUHAN ORKESTERI & PROJECT: BICYCLE
The release date is getting so close for these... I, for one, am very excited to finally get these releases on the shelves. Rahaun Orkesteri is out on May 16th! and Project Bicycle is going to be out on June 6th! I'm just waiting for the vinyl for Project Bicycle to arrive, as well as the boxes of hand screened covers by the wonderful Jelle Crama! Keep your eyes peeled for reviews to start sprouting up for them. Also note that I actually have these releases - so they're orderable at www.acherecords.com/store now!
////////////////////////////////////////
NEW RELEASES ANNOUNCED //////////////////////////////////////
All 3 of these releases have officially been sent to the plant now. Look for cover art and mp3s to show up real soon:
ACHE026
JAB MICA OCH EL
ABC Hej I'm Cola CD/LP
Modern electronic processing collides with playful organic instrumentation and melodies. Robust flutes and brass parade joyously through a pixelled park. LP will be limited to 500, and will have hand silk-screened covers!
ACHE027
2UP
Teenage Mondo Trash
A duo of frantic and collapsing hardcore from Japan. House party punk rock injected with an artful dose of polyrhythms.
ACHE028 / D/FIVE
OF / GREG DAVIS
Number five of our DIV/ORCE series takes an abrupt turn. What has primarily been a series devoted to the more abrasive side of underground music, now reveals an organic soothing centre. Arguably the most obvious pairing so far in a our series, Of, is Loren Chasses' (Jeweled Antler, Blithe Sons, etc) solo effort, of beautifully restrained tonal harmonies, while Greg Davis delivers a similar approach of field recording meets acoustic guitar. In fact, the only strong difference between the two is the amount of processing, once again, raising questions of the fine line between what is accepted as specific genres.
All three of these releases should be out in August.... roughly.... or something. I'll have a real release date for you in a month.
////////////////////////////////////////
SECRET MOMMY
//////////////////////////////////////
My EP composed completely of a recording of my wisdom teeth being pulled, called THE WISDOM EP is coming out in August on Sublight Records. Check out www.sublightrecords.com for album artwork as well as mp3 samples! I'm just waiting for the 3 remixes to be completed - Kit Clayton, Sun O.K. Papi KO and PIERS WHYTE.
Next up for me will be my next full length, tentatively called Plays, which is made entirely of strictly organic recording sessions done at The Hive, featuring a very rich list of Vancouver's best musicians and my closest friends. Other then for the recording devices, no electricity was used in creating the sounds for this record. It's coming along surprisingly fast, and I might go in to mix it all down in July or so.
////////////////////////////////////////

Re: Ache Email-out & News!
Yayyy listened to the Wisdom EP samples, I can't wait for the release!
And I really enjoyed Project Bicycle, lots of great stuff on it.... I love the idea of having an open source sample as well, it really encouraged me to make something using sampling... My attempt is on my MySpace site if you're interested, http://music.myspace.com/terrestrialcouncil (it's the second song on the list, "Bikelight Sonata")... Definitely looking forward to the vinyl release of it as well, sounds like it should be cool...
Sounds like a lot of other great stuff is happening around Vancouver as well.

Re: Ache Email-out & News!
Oh rad! That's really cool that you did your own song with the sample.. .actually, I'm going to start a new thread on the board where people can submit their own.
I just reread my post - the board totally auto-edited my stuff... turned all my curses into asteriks... I didn't know it would do that!
