Ache

Welcome to the Ache Forum. This was created to promote community within the underground music / art scene. It will (hopefully) be a forum of inspiration and positivity, and help us get to know eachother and get organized.
I welcome you to discuss means of getting active in your scene, music, art, and things that make you happy. Critisism is great too, but if I feel your comment is counter-productive (ie. critical for the sake of controversy alone, or to prove a bad-ass you are), I'll take it off.

Commence communal activity!

**** shrink wrap

Hello! I just wanted to let everyone know that I've made a decision not to shrink wrap Ache releases anymore. I'm trying my best to minimize Ache's footprint on the planet.
Once I ordered 1000 CDs unshrink wrapped because I needed to add something to the booklet, but they came wrapped and I had to unwrap every single one of them... you should see the amount of plastic it takes to wrap 1000 CDs. Total waste - like 4 giant garbage bags.
It is time we question the practices of the modern world, and do what we can, as a society, and more specifically as a counter-culture, to make living conditions better.

Re: **** shrink wrap

Excellent idea, Andy, I approve of anything to help reduce waste.
However, when I want to sell rare Ache products on, in 30 years time, on eBay, how will I prove that they are in unplayed mint condition? With your carbon-reducable ways, you are eating into my retirement fund.

Re: **** shrink wrap

Hehe... yes that is true... one day all Ache release will be worth millions.
But, all jokes aside, I do plan on seeling CDs from now on with a small circular sticker with something writen on it... so, you'll still be able to own unopened copies. This is just so stores don't sell used copies as new and whatnot.

Re: **** shrink wrap

that's a good idea but are you doing everything in cardboard or digi? that's something i've really been struggling with. as much as i hate jewel the first record i did was cardboard and was way too expensive to do again. i think even if we did sell all of them i still wouldn;t have broken even. maybe i went to the wrong printer. what about considering using plastic sleeves like a record that are there to protect the cardboard and are re-usable? funny, i always look to constellation for answers. those guys seriously seem to have everything figured.

Yeah, digipaks are expensive for sure... they're going down a bit in price these days though - you gotta shop around a bit.
Plastic sleeves is a super good idea actually! The only thing is that, I think it's good to have the sticker thing to create a sort of "seal" - meaning people will know if the CD is new or used if the sticker is removed. Know what I mean?
