He currently serves as an educator in the Philadelphia Charter Schools. He is active with African-centered study groups and has organized many forums for African scholars to disseminate their research and findings. Mr. Wallace, through study and travel, has gathered a wealth of information for and about African people. CEP #271 • Hip-Hop 101 • (5 Weeks) Fee: Free Public Forum Instructor: Michael Coard (who happens to be a revolutionary criminal defense lawyer) is an African who has been a Hip-Hop head since even before Kool Herc arrived from Jamaica. Michael’s Hip-Hop expertise - just like that of every culturally conscious Black man and woman in this country - is based on melanous, rhythmic soul that is inherent in every African, especially those who are forced everyday to struggle against the permanent residue of American slavery and the pervasive presence of American racism. WS-75 • HIV / AIDS Basics: A Workshop • (5 Weeks) Fee: Free Public Forum Instructor: Joseph Malloy III is an AIDS Activist who has worked in the field of HIV / AIDS since the early 1990’s. Mr. Malloy was also a part of the “We the People” organization as well as ACT-UP and the Office of HIV Planning. Mr. Malloy is one of many Philadelphians who have been intimately affected by the HIV / AIDS pandemic. CEP #338-A • Story Quilting • (5 Weeks) Fee: $25.00 Instructor: Carla Wiley is a storyteller, quilt historian and instructor, literacy and preschool specialist. She has been a quilter most of her life. Starting quite young with a love of fabric, Ms. Wiley brings a teaching technique that combines the basics of the quilting bee and constructivist theory of education with adult learning principles. Ms. Wiley has been an instructor at PASCEP since the Fall of 2003 and is a member of the PASCEP Advisory Council (PAC). She is a beauty and image consultant and children’s and teen show producer. She is the President and CEO of Dot n Ray, Inc., a nonprofit organization for children and youths in the performing arts. She graduated from Stephanie’s School of Modeling and Dance in Philadelphia and is certified through George Ann’s Finishing and Modeling School in Oakland, NJ. CEP #353• Astrology: Ancient Mysteries / Science of Sciences • (5 Weeks) Fee: $25.00 Instructor: Bob Eure is a national and international Certified Professional Astrologer. He has been involved in Astrology for over 35 years. A longstanding member of the American Federation of Astrologers, Mr. Eure has studied in both American and European professional astrology schools. CEP #324 • The Art of Numbers • (5 Weeks) Fee: Free Public Forum Instructor: Herman Muhaimin Taylor, a GED Math instructor, is self-taught in this course and has been teaching it in various literacy programs and workshops for over 8 years. CEP #287 • Community Organizing & Development • (5 Weeks) Fee: $25.00 Instructor: Mr. LuQman M. Abdullah has a BA from Hampton University and Certificate in Community Economic Development from University of Delaware. He has been involved in community-based economic development initiatives, anti-violence, nonprofit community program’s organizational development and management for over fifteen years. CEP #385 • The Inner Womb-Man • (5 Weeks) Fee: $25.00 Instructor: Miriam E. House is a registered herbalist and iridologist, wholistic healer, motivational speaker and nutritional consultant serving the global community for over 22 years. She maintains a private consulting practice and is proprietor of a wholistic day spa called, Peace of Heaven, and a full service wellness center called, to Perfect Health. She has created and developed her own product line of herbal remedies, including her renowned Path 1, 2 and 3 body renewal cleansing system.
