Talks of the Maginot line began 1919 after WW1. After many studies beginning in 1922 they would build a series of inter-dependable fortresses. Initially the French thought that it would go from the Mediterranean to the English Channel. They only got as far as the Swiss boarder, to a place near the Belgium boarder, called La Ferte.
The building of the line began in 1930 and scheduled to be completed in 1943. Unfortunately, during the 1930’s, Hitler wasn’t going to wait. Lack of money, political opposition and time now became a problem for the ambitious project |
