Thank you so much for your most interesting legend. I hope you will be able to provide any follow-up! Although I am from the Stamper line, I only knew this Arkansas man, Billy Jean Stamper, from a eulogy acknowledging that he was kin to Jesse James. Although the experts say Jesse James had little if any connection to Eastern Kentucky, the unwritten legends are many. I recall how my Lewis County grandmother, Martha Adams Hinton, told us kids that "Jesse James once hid out here." |
