Message:   My aunt, Loudemia mentioned some time ago that she attended the funeral of a nephew of Jesse and Frank James when she was a young girl.

While visiting the Stamper Cemetery on Long's Creek (Breathitt County) a couple years ago, Ed Stamper, who lives across the road from the cemetery, walked over for a visit. Ed's father, Elijah, was a half brother to my grandfather, Pearl Stamper. Ed asked me if I knew Frank James used to live with my gr gr grandfather, John Wesley Stamper.

Logic would tell me that if Frank had lived with my gr gr grandfather that Jesse had probably been a visitor at one time or another; or may possibly have lived with him also. This was in the time when the teachers would live periodically with different families.

Frank James lived in the Morris Fork / Long's Creek area for a time. He was a teacher, teaching penmanship. Of course, he did not use the name, Frank James at this particular time.

I hope to be interviewing my aunt and Ed Stamper before too long. I have pictures of the house (what's left standing, that is) that my gr gr grandfather lived in and will put them on the site soon.

Do you know who 'your' Billy Stamper's parents were, and where they were from?

I need to find out if my aunt or Ed have a particular time period in mind for these two events.
