running the 'Derwent Valley Heritage Way'.
Hi to everyone, & thanks for taking the time to read this message. I wonder if any forum readers could help me with ideas of how I might make a success of a self-imposed challenge! I'm looking to run the 'Derwent Valley Heritage Way' which is a designated long distance walking route of about 55 miles. Here is a link for the route: http://www.nationalheritagecorridor.org.uk/map.htm I hope to do this on Sunday 27 May 2007. The reason for doing so is to raise money for a fund to send my cousin's daughter for specialist rehabilitation in Germany. In November 2005 Claire was in an horrific car crash, in which her boyfriend died. At the time of the crash Doctors thought she would not survive her injuries. She was in a coma until August 2006. Since then she has made some progress on her journey of recovery. This will be a long journey for Claire & I wanted to help by raising money to help pay for her treatment. Taking on the challenge of a long journey myself seemed appropriate. So, do you have any suggestions about how I might increase sponsorship for my efforts on Claire's behalf? I wondered if running clubs along the route would promote the occasion & thus the fundraising. How can I achieve this? Any help & suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I haven't really done something like this before. Thanks for reading this long message. Jim. |
