There are great changes taking place with regards to the re-structuring of the sport in England. Currently the East Midlands Region, of which Derbyshire clubs are a member, is made up of 3 Midlands counties and 2 northern counties. On 31st March 2006 the AAAoEngland looses its governance and is replaced by England Athletics. The clubs in Derbyshire need to make a decision about their future competition areas. Will it be in the North or the Midlands? Every club secreatry has recently recived notification of an Open Forum in Matlock Town Hall on 21st November at 7.30pm to discuss any questions, etc. I ahve asked for replies to be sent to me by 14th November. I have receied replies form 4 of the clubs who have been invited to the meeting. This is a very disappointing response and from a personal point of view grossly ill mannered. What about your club? Has your secretary had the good manners to reply? Perhaps athlete power could chase this very poor response. Before the road running fraternity accuses the DCAA of only being track & Field biassed - this affects ALL aspects of the sport and does include YOU - THE ATHLETE irrespective of your discipline allegiance. |
