Derbyshire Raod Race Grand Prix
The Road Running clubs complain that the DCAA does nothing for them. How about the Derbyshire Road Race Grand Prix. Th inaugural competition took place in 2004 and was a success. However, the second venture in 2005 is unlikely to run as only 1 club is prepared to host 1 race. A race distance of 4 or 5 miles, an evening in June or July attracting about 100 runners,male and female, U20s,Seniors and Masters. If this fails to take off this year where was your club when your County needed you. You have until 31st March to decide - if there are no offers the Race series will be cancelled. At a recent County Committee meeting (14th March) I proposed that the series be cancelled immediately - but the Committee voted on a stay of execution. |

At last we are going in the right direction. All we need now is another club to come on board. It will be a great pity if this Grand Prix does not get off the ground. Obviously the County Association cannot serve your needs if the Road Running fraternity do not support the County. Then the County gets accused of doing nothing for Road Runners - only for track & field - which simply is not true. Come Road Runners support the efforts of your colleagues!!! |
